An icon reborn
Soapworks is built on a rich industrial past. Originally home to G.W. Goodwin & Sonโs Ivy Soap Works, it became a Colgate-Palmolive factory in 1938, producing household staples like toothpaste and detergent. For decades, it was a key employer in Salford, standing as a symbol of industry and innovation near the docks on Ordsall Lane.
After the factoryโs closure in 2005, the site underwent a ยฃ25 million transformation, evolving into the modern business hub it is today. While the building has been reimagined with state-of-the-art office space, it still retains the character and legacy of its past, bridging its industrial heritage with a new future for business and community.
